"Abandoned"

"Something isn’t adding up.

This wild exchange: You offer us,

I gave my worst; You gave Your blood.

Seems hard to believe

You’re telling me You chose the cross."

Verse 2:

"I just can’t get over it.

What kind of self-control is this?

You had angels at Your fingertips,

But on the cross, You remained.

I can’t repay that kind of love."

God created us, yet we continually disobey and fall short of His expectations. Despite our perpetual failures, does that mean we should continu

Spiritual Warfare Scriptures

1. James 4:7-8 — Fight Your Battles through Humility and Purity

“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands … and purify your hearts.”

We must begin our warfare with the right heart attitude. Submitting ourselves to God means coming to Him humbly, admitting we are not capable of lasting victories without Him. In every circumstance, God resists the p

Divine Grace

by: Willard

Divine grace is God acting in our life to accomplish what we cannot do on our own. It informs our being and actions and makes them effective in the wisdom and power of God. Hence, grace is not opposed to effort (our actions) but to earning (our attitude).

Paul the apostle, who perhaps understood grace as none other, remarks on his own efforts for Christ: “By the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more than all of them

Follow Jesus’ Manual

by: Willard

Jesus told us explicitly what to do. We have a manual, just like the car owner. He told us, as disciples, to make disciples. Not converts to Christianity, nor to some particular “faith and practice.” He did not tell us to arrange for people to “get in” or “make the cut” after they die, nor to eliminate the various brutal forms of injustice, nor to produce and maintain “successful” churches. These are all good things, and he had something to say about all of them. They will

Welcome our new Associate Pastor Robert (Cutty) Peacock and his wife Linda to our SBX family.

Today Pastor Dennis Evans' message - "Joy to the World"

Advent Week 1  HOPE

"The Prophet's Candle" symbolizes hope, specifically, the israelites' hope that the promised Messiah would come.  They had been waiting for the Messiah for centuries, wondering what he would look like and what he would do when he arrived.  When Jesus was born, that hope was finally fulfilled - "A prophet like

First And Only

How easy is it for us to start kinda losing our way? How easy is it for us to slowly begin sliding away from God? How easy is it for us to lose our zeal? How easy is it for us to get into this idea that "It's just another Sunday," or to see the Bible as "Just another book?"

We subconsciously can begin to stray from God, we need to draw near to God intentionally on a daily basis in prayer, reading, writing, songs, we need to have our one and only focus be him. (James 4:8–10)

Christian Apologetics

by: South Banks Community Church

11/25/2023

The Christian attitude in apologetic work consists in three things. The first is to have confidence in God and his truth. We’re not nervous, and God’s not nervous either. You can ask him any question. The only thing that’s required with God is that we be honest. You can’t fool him anyway. I’ve heard people say that you should never ask God for the same thing twice, because that proves that you didn’t believe in him the first time—as if he didn’t know until you asked him th

Love

The crucifixion and resurrection is the central belief that we share as Christians, which overall, it's absurd! It's rational, but absurd!

We as people are absurd, and we've had an absurd problem. Rebellion against our own creator, rebellion against others. So we need an absurd solution.

And the feeling of love is pretty absurd I would say.

Love makes you do crazy things for no logical reason. Just because you feel a certain way about someone or something.

I cannot explain t

RATTLE!

by: Patrick Springle

This past month we have spent learning a new song, titled "RATTLE!" Written and performed by Elevation Worship. RATTLE! is written out of Ezekiel 37, the Valley Of Dry Bones.  |   Ezekiel 37:4-7   |  Ezekiel 37:11-14

Ezekiel 37 is a great example of how God brings dead places, dead things back to life. And he will not leave nor forsake his people, (Deuteronomy 31:6)

It's always great to remember that we are not forsaken, rather Jesus was forsaken for us. He took on all of ou

We have finished up our shoebox packing!! Praise the Lord for his blessings.

So many to thank so I’ll make this short but truly heartfelt. To my full time OCC Shoebox elf Sherri Humphrey and her so, so accommodating husband Bill, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Could not do this without you. To all of the packers, f
