Missions are an important part of the local church

Why we support Missions..........

Isaiah

wrote:

How beautiful on the mountains

are the feet of those who bring good news,

who proclaim peace,

who bring good tidings,

who proclaim salvation,

who say to Zion,

“Your God reigns!”

In Romans 10:15, Paul wrote  “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

The apostle Paul identifies two important components of missions — those who “go” and those who “send.” Churches and missionaries are partners in mission, two halves of a team that God uses to extend his kingdom worldwide. They encourage one another, pray for each other, and share progress and challenges. Through their partnership, God is glorified and both parties are strengthened in their vision and mission.

We support local and international missionaries serving in many countries.

Here are a few of the missions we support......

South Banks Community Church supports and actively participates in Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child.  Through the collection and delivery of gift-filled shoeboxes to children around the world, Operation Christmas Child is able to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way. Along with these once in a lifetime gifts, each shoebox recipient receives a copy of The Greatest Journey, a 12-lesson discipleship course designed to teach children how to follow Christ and share the good news with others.  As they do, families and communities are transformed by the power of the Gospel.

South Banks considers this ministry one of the best opportunities to touch and share the Gospel with children around the world.  Visit the OCC website for additional information and ministry opportunities.

“Every shoebox gift is an opportunity to reach a child with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It’s about telling children around the world and their families that God loves them. He hasn’t forgotten them. We’re taking the Good News to the ends of the earth and doing it through a shoebox.”

—Franklin Graham, President of Samaritan’s Purse
