Last Wednesday we had a great gathering of which we discussed a few things, the primary topic being about justice, social norms, stuff along those lines.
We watched a great video by Bible Project to start the discussion, which you can watch here:
A highlight is we got onto a discussion regarding sympathy vs empathy, sympathy isn't entirely real, it's kind of a facade you could say. A quick pat on the back. Empathy, you truly feel and understand cause you've either been there before or just genuinely feel it.
Personally I really like the symbolism that Bible Project uses to depict things. The simplistic style, and the way the ground moves up and down to represent social status, the more I watch the video, more and more things specifically stand out to me. But ultimately the message is that we all are made equal because of the cross. Ephesians 2:8–9 says it best.
'8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.'
