Who We Are

A praying & worshiping community of believers...

Leading people to the light; helping this generation become fully devoted followers of Christ; giving people a place to belong. Matthew 28:19-20

As an independent non-denominational church, South Banks Community Church believes; The Bible to be the divinely inspired and inerrant word of God; II Timothy 3:16-17. Man is by nature a sinner; Psalm 51:5.

Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, virgin born, died on the cross for our sins, was raised from the dead and is coming again; Matthew 1:18, Hebrew 4:15, I Corinthians 15:3-4, John 14:3.

Salvation is a free gift given by God's grace received by faith; Ephesians 2:8-9.

Baptism in water by immersion as a believer's professing Jesus as Lord; Acts 8:36-39.

The church is the body of Christ and the bride of Christ; Ephesians 5:25-33, I Corinthians 12.

The church is to carry out the great commission, Christ's last command on earth; Matthew 28:19-20.

Believers are endowed with spiritual gifts which enable them to minister in the church; Ephesians 4:11-13.

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is God's empowering the believer to carry out God's purposes on the earth; Acts 2:18.

The church is governed by elders; godly people who help lead the church; Titus 1:5-9.

Church government should be simplistic rather than a complex bureaucracy, dependent upon the Holy Spirit to lead, rather than human promotion. The spiritual leadership serves up under the lead pastor to help take the church in the direction of the Holy Spirit's leading.

Core Values

Authentic Worship - worship should be authentic and acceptable to God; Romans 12:1-2.

We desire that people acknowledge God's supreme value and worth in both personal worship and corporately.

Biblical Teaching - teaching God's word with integrity and authority so that seekers find Christ and believers mature in Him; 2 Timothy 3:16.

Cultural Relevance - communicating truth in a way that people who aren't like us can understand; with an emphasis on youth and children.

If you help a young person you don't have to repair an adult.

Community with Purpose - healthy networks of small groups.

The bigger we get the smaller we get. We believe in the value of biblical community where people are ministered to and love one another; Acts 2:44-46.

Prayer Focused - prayer is communicating to God; interceding on behalf of others and the world; Ephesians 6:18.
